NK Cells Attacking Cancer
NK cells are important cells responsible for innate immunity and are known to attack virus-infected cells or tumor cells. This method first detects abnormal cells, then sprays perforin on the cell membrane to melt it and create a hole in the cell membrane. Granzyme is sprayed on the cell membrane to dissolve the cytoplasm, or water and salt are injected into the cell to cause cell necrosis. Once cancer cells are recognized, they can be attacked directly, but they can also be attacked indirectly by activating cytokines and activating cytotoxic T cells and B cells.
